Plasencia. Walls

They surround the historic city centre and were built of masonry in the 12th century with a double defensive system of thick retaining walls and an outer barbican separated by a trench. The walls were strengthened with towers with a semicircular ground plan of which 20 survive and with 4 defensive towers built against the Citadel which no longer exists. The Torre de Lucía houses the Interpretation Centre of the medieval town of Plasencia.
